Hi, I'm learning German by memorizing Faust, but I came across a line that I couldn't understand (line 1092-3): But it is indigenous to everyone that his feelings penetrate up and forward. So I figured out that the first part of the sentence means "It is inborn in each person, that...". And the clause refers to a feeling that drives us forwards and upwards. But I'm having trouble understanding the grammar of the clause. In particular, I don't understand what the "sein" signifies. Since it is "dringt" rather than "sein gedrungen", it seems to be present tense. What does "sein" do here? Please help. Thanks! I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
